Beware of Anger

This is a good reminder for all of us!!
Are we quick to anger?
Do we think someone "made" us angry?
Wrong!!
Anger is a feeling that we choose.  Anger can be controlled.

In 3 Nephi 11:29 says:  "For verily, verily I say unto , he that hath the spirit of contention is not of me, but is of the devil, who is the father of contention, and he stirreth up the hearts of men to contend with anger, one with another."
Elder Robbins of the seventy in his April 1998 conference talk gave a recipe for "stir."  He says, "The verb stir sounds like a recipe for disaster: Put tempers on medium heat, stir in a few choice words, and bring to a boil; continue stirring until thick; cool off; let feelings chill for several days; serve cold; lots of leftovers."  Sounds yummy, right?

We need to be good at controlling our anger.  My husband and I have made a goal to control our anger better.  By allowing anger in our house we are allowing a little bit of Satan to enter our home.  Our house works better if anger is pushed aside, and love and tenderness are replaced for the anger.
In the readings for the week I also learned about marriage gridlocks.  This was nice to read about because we do have some gridlocks in our marriage.  It was helpful to know that we just need to get to the real concern, and learn about our spouse's dreams and desires.  By learning of their dreams and desires, it usually helps us to understand better why we are gridlocked and hopefully will help us to discuss the subject further without the argument.  It was interesting talking to my husband about this because he definitely agreed that we are gridlocked on a few issues.  I think it would be interesting to read The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by John Gottman together as a couple and do every exercise together.  It might be very enlightening to our relationship.
