Insurance-UGH!

Insurance what a pain.  This week we had to review our different insurance options.  You don't realize just how much of our monthly income is going off to different insurances.  We have several life insurance policies.  A few for my husband, and 1 for me.  Some come from my husband's work and another we started when we were first married.  Also through my husband's work, we have a small policy for each of our kids.  I think my husband also has a small disability insurance plan through work.  We also have health insurance, car insurance, home owner's insurance.  This week it was interesting to see how much is actually going out for insurance every month.  It is a lot of money.  And it always a gamble as to how much to carry.  But it is so refreshing to know that we are covered by insurance for the "just in case" moments that come up.  A year and a half ago we had a crazy weird hale storm.  That never happens here, but my husband was so excited.  He was hoping that it was causing hale damage to the roof so that we could get it replaced.  Sure enough it did.  It was nice to be able to get a new roof and not have to pay for it.  We also did lots of things our self, so we were able to make the money stretch farther.  We were able to paint our house with this money, and get some new alley gates (which were very unsafe with young children around).  We felt like this was a huge blessing in our life.  We were able to seal up our house better should more bad weather come up.  Even though a lot of money goes out for insurance it brings a feeling a peace knowing that your family won't be destitute should an emergency come up.
